Prince de la French Touch au sein du groupe Modjo, Yann Destal négocie en 2004 un virage musical hors du commun. Sort alors "The Great Blue Scar", un premier album solo réalisé notamment avec Bertrand Burgalat et Paul Kendall. Yann Destal revient cette année avec un nouvel EP intitulé "Stay By Me" : des compositions pop-rock aux mélodies subtiles et puissantes (sortie le 19 septembre 2011).
